Almost 20 thousand volunteers in the team: The “Ecology” Fund of the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations presented the best practices of corporate volunteering at a forum in Moscow
Experts of the Ecology Foundation of Rosselkhozbank took an active part in the business program of the key event of the environmental sector – the XVII International Forum “Ecology,” which was held in Moscow. The Director of the Foundation, Elmyra Morozova, presented the results of large-scale volunteer activities and innovative approaches to environmental education implemented by the organization.
Within the framework of the business program, representatives of the Foundation talked about how systematic work on involving citizens in environmental issues is being built. The main figure announced at the forum was the number 19,493 volunteers – exactly that many concerned people joined the initiatives of the “Ecology” Foundation during its active work. The total amount of funding for natural resource projects during this period reached 147.3 million rubles.
At a session dedicated to corporate eco-volunteering, Elmira Morozova emphasized that the ecological agenda today is an integral part of modern culture. Recent research data confirms that more than 60% of Russians express serious concern about the state of the environment, and a key motivation for participating in community clean-up events and campaigns is the personal desire to contribute to nature conservation.
“RSKhB traditionally acted as a partner of the event. Participation in the ‘Ecology’ forum is an opportunity not only to talk about what the Fund lives by but also to compare notes with colleagues in the field. We see that interest in volunteering is growing, and our task is to offer people interesting, useful, and effective formats for participating in the nature conservation project,” noted Elmira Morozova.
For employees of Rosselkhozbank and all concerned citizens, the Ecology Fund offers a wide range of eco-projects covering key areas of environmental activity. In the field of water resource conservation, volunteers participate in cleaning shores and coastal bottoms, as well as in landscaping territories — installing benches and trash bins made from recycled plastic. The forest restoration direction is represented by tree planting campaigns in various regions of the country. In addition, the Fund implements initiatives aimed at preserving biodiversity, including measures to protect red-listed animals and the restocking of Lake Baikal with young red-listed Siberian sturgeon. The Fund also actively carries out projects to foster a careful attitude toward nature among the younger generation, involving schoolchildren and students in the initiatives.
