Beijing, April 21 /Xinhua/ — General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping held a meeting on Tuesday in Beijing with Salemsay Kommasith, special envoy of the General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party /LPRP/, President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith.
As Xi Jinping indicated, the exchange of visits by special envoys between the CPC and the NCP for informing each other about an important political agenda reflects a deep traditional friendship and a high level of political mutual trust between the two sides.
Reminding that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, as well as the Year of Chinese-Laotian Friendship, the Chinese leader noted that not so long ago he and Thongloun Sisoulith exchanged letters and reached important agreements on deepening the construction of the China-Laos community of shared future.
Si Zinpin expressed confidence that under the firm leadership of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party headed by General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith, the party, state, and people of Laos will inevitably be able to overcome difficulties, successfully achieve all goals and complete all tasks, confidently and unwaveringly follow the path of socialism, and realize the goal tied to the centenary of the founding of the LPRP.
The Chinese leader emphasized that at the new starting point of history, China and Laos must adhere to the course of long-term stability, good-neighborly friendship, mutual trust, and all-encompassing cooperation, as well as good-neighborliness, friendship, comradeship, and partnership.
The parties must consider the future and destiny of socialism from a strategic height, strengthen coordination and interaction, deepen strategic integration, expand practical cooperation, jointly counter common challenges, and contribute to the confident advancement of building the China-Laos community with a shared future towards goals of high standards, high quality, and a high level.
Salemsay Kommasith, who is also a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the LPRP and Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, handed over to Xi Jinping a personal letter from Thongloun Sisoulith and spoke about the recently held 12th Congress of the LPRP.
As the special envoy emphasized, China has long been maintaining a safe and stable internal socio-political situation, creating the miracles of sustainable and rapid economic development. According to him, China’s role and authority on the international stage continue to increase.
The Laotian side firmly supports the major global initiatives put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and is ready to deepen comprehensive practical cooperation with the Chinese side in order to achieve new results in building the Lao-Chinese community of shared destiny, added Salemsay Kommasith.
