The V All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participation “Library Marketing 360°” was held at the State University of Management.
At the event, 111 in-person participants and more than 1500 remote listeners gathered. Representatives from 8 cities in Russia and 7 countries of the world, including Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Guinea-Bissau, Kazakhstan, and Chad, spoke with reports.
The moderator of the meeting was Elena Beylin, editor-in-chief of the journal “University Book,” who read out the greeting from the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Zhanna Alexeeva. The Deputy Minister noted that over five years the conference has become an “authoritative professional platform,” and emphasized the importance of library marketing, since “the change in work formats allows libraries to become full participants in the information market.”
Sent greetings from the Director of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Upbringing, Additional Education, and Children’s Recreation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Igor Yurgin, who drew attention to the special importance of libraries’ ability to flexibly respond to audience requests, build effective interaction with it, and implement modern approaches in their activities.
On behalf of the rector of the State University, Professor Vladimir Zotov welcomed the conference participants, recounting how the large-scale digitization of the book collection began in the capital, which today has evolved into a full-fledged development program for next-generation libraries, and outlined three directions for assessing the effectiveness of the marketing strategy of the modern library: the inclusion of the library in the educational process, the library as a scientific center, the library as a consultation center for IT.
The Director of the Scientific Library of GUU Olga Kharlamova emphasized that a successful project requires a cohesive team, because behind any marketing there are always real people.
The youth section was opened by the head of the Museum and Library Complex GUU, Mikhail Polyakov, who pointed out an interesting trend: the transformation of libraries now concerns not only the space and book lending, but also the meaning.
The organizers of the event were the Scientific Library of the State University of Management and the publishing group “KNORUS” with the support of the section on library management and marketing, the section of university libraries of RBA, and the journal “University Book”.
