Beijing, April 20 /Xin Hua/ — Premier of the State Council Li Qiang on Monday called for facilitating the optimization and adjustment of China’s energy structure and deepening the reform of the energy system to ensure solid energy support for accelerating comprehensive green transformation and high-quality development of the country.

Li Qian made the corresponding statement, chairing the 19th thematic session of the State Council. Vice Premiers of the State Council Din Suesyan, Zhang Gotzin, and Lu Gochjun gave speeches at the event.

As noted by the head of the Chinese government, under conditions of profound changes in the international situation and the continuing growth of overall energy consumption in China, it is necessary to continuously enhance the stability of the energy system and the capability to ensure energy security.

Li Qian emphasized that key importance lies in strengthening scientific and technological innovations in the energy sector, the accelerated creation of new-type energy systems, and the promotion of green and low-carbon transformation of energy production and consumption models.

The Prime Minister of the State Council called for fully unlocking the potential of renewable energy supply, continuously raising the level of environmentally clean and efficient use of fossil fuels, and accelerating the construction of new-type power grids.

Coordinated security and transformation of the energy sector is a systemic task requiring deep reform and renewal of systemic mechanisms, as well as further development of a unified national market in the electric power sector, emphasized Li Qian.
