Washington, April 20 /Sin Hua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday about the “extreme improbability” that he will extend the two-week ceasefire regime with Iran if no deal is reached by the end of this week. This was stated in a message from the American news agency Bloomberg.

In a telephone interview with the agency, D. Trump also noted that the Strait of Hormuz will remain blocked until a final peace agreement is concluded.

“They are waiting for me to open it. The Iranians are desperately waiting for it to be opened. I will not open it until a deal is signed,” said the American leader. Oil prices continued to rise sharply amid the ongoing maritime blockade of Iran by Washington. In the vicinity, US naval forces detained another ship flying the Iranian flag.

“I am not going to rush and make a bad deal. We have plenty of time,” emphasized D. Trump.

The head of the White House reminded that the period of the ceasefire declared by him on April 7 will expire on the evening of April 22 in North American Eastern Time.

Answering Bloomberg’s question about whether he expects immediate resumption of strikes if no agreement is reached, D. Trump said: “If there is no deal, I would definitely expect that.” –0–
