Tehran, April 20 /Xinhua/ — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that Iranians “do not submit to force,” and accused the United States of attempting to force his country to capitulate.
M. Pezeshkian wrote about this on social network X against the backdrop of uncertainty regarding Iran’s participation in the second round of negotiations with the United States in Islamabad.
“Compliance with obligations is the basis of substantive dialogue,” indicated the Iranian president. He noted that in Iran, there still remains deep distrust of the behavior of the USA and that “non-constructive and contradictory signals” from American officials point to their desire to achieve Iran’s capitulation. “Iranians will not submit to force,” emphasized M. Pezeshkian.
Earlier on Monday, Iranian media reported that Iran had not changed its decision not to participate in the next round of negotiations, despite statements by US President Donald Trump that US Vice President Mike Pence and other Washington representatives had gone to Pakistan.
