New York, April 20 /Xin Hua/ — At least two people died after a planned fight between young people in one of the parks of the American state of North Carolina on Monday morning escalated into a shooting. This was reported by local law enforcement agencies.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation confirmed information about the deceased on social networks, clarifying that currently police are working at the scene of the incident.
According to police data, the incident occurred around 10:00 local time in Leinhart Park, located northwest of downtown Winston-Salem.
“At the moment, it has been established that two minors agreed to meet in the park to fight,” said Jake Swaym, Deputy Chief of Police of Winston-Salem.
“When they met in the park, the situation suddenly escalated, leading to a shootout involving several people,” the police said, adding that some of the participants, both victims and suspects, were found and identified.
“This is an isolated incident, no active investigation is being conducted,” officials reported.
