Beijing, April 20 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping said on Monday that unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz must be ensured.
Si Zhenpin made this statement during a telephone conversation with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
Si Zhipin noted that China attaches great importance to developing relations with Saudi Arabia and has always adhered to the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the all-encompassing strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia, Xi Jinping stated that, taking advantage of this opportunity, China is ready to make joint efforts with Saudi Arabia to deepen strategic mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, activate exchanges at all levels, expand the scale and depth of bilateral cooperation, and make bilateral relations an example for the development of relations between China and Arab countries.
Speaking about the current situation in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region, Si Jinping emphasized that China calls for an immediate and complete cessation of fire and hostilities, supports all efforts conducive to the restoration of peace, and continues to advocate for the resolution of disputes by political and diplomatic means.
Si Zijin also stated that the unhindered passage through the Strait of Hormuz serves the common interests of the countries of the region and the international community, adding that China supports the countries of the region in building a common home characterized by good neighborliness, development, security, and cooperation, in defining their own future and destiny, as well as in promoting long-term peace and stability in the region.
