Speech by Andrey Nikulin
On October 15–16, the Nevsky Construction Forum 2026 took place in Saint Petersburg. This year, its central theme was the security of critical infrastructure. The venue for the two-day business program was the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The forum organizers are the Consortium “Kodeks” and LLC “CDK Forum Skills.”
SPbGASU not only provided a platform for professional dialogue but also actively participated in discussing current issues in the construction industry.
Opening the forum, the dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at SPbGASU Andrey Nikulin noted that holding a professional event within the walls of an architectural and construction university is important for training future specialists. “Our university has been serving the construction sector for 195 years. This is our contribution to the creation of large construction companies and industrial complexes because industrial and civil construction is the foundation without which today’s life is impossible to imagine,” he noted.
According to him, safety issues in construction and production must be reflected in the educational process. “Today’s topic on the protection of industrial facilities is extremely important, so we must instill this knowledge and skills in our students from their very first days at university,” emphasized the dean.
Andrey Nikulin paid special attention to the protection of cultural and architectural heritage sites. He noted that preserving such sites requires a systematic approach to security issues, and restoring what has been lost often turns out to be significantly more difficult and expensive than the initial protection.
The forum’s program covered a wide range of issues related to the safety of capital construction facilities, including an analysis of new requirements for developers and operating organizations in accordance with Presidential Decree of the Russian Federation No. 604 “On measures to ensure the security of critical infrastructure facilities.” In addition, participants discussed issues of digital security and the application of artificial intelligence in construction, import substitution and pricing in new realities, construction supervision, and regulatory requirements for the examination of project documentation.
Assistant of the Department of Architectural and Structural Engineering at SPbGASU Vadim Rokhlin gave a report titled “Reasonable digitalization and artificial intelligence. The use of AI in architectural visualization. Pros, cons, and risks.”
Within the framework of the discussion club “Digital Dead End,” experts discussed the prospects of information modeling and digital control and analyzed hidden problems of automation and systemic software mismatches. An associate professor of the Department of Construction Organization at SPbGASU participated in the club’s work. Sergey Bovteev.
