Is it possible to restore relevance to old cars? Scientists from the State University of Management confidently answered “yes” and became winners of the scientific and technical projects competition.

The technician of the Student Design Bureau at the State University of Management, Maksim Koshkarev, presented the project of the robotic logistics platform “MAMONT” at the International Automotive Scientific Forum (IASF-2026), created under the scientific supervision of Vladimir Filatov, director of the Engineering Project Management Center at the State University of Management.

With the support of the “People’s Front” organization, a team of scientists from our university transformed the outdated LuAZ-967M model into a modern robotic modular transporter. They didn’t just “extend its life”: engineers increased its load capacity, taught it to confidently maintain high speeds, and preserved the signature maneuverability and reliability for which this platform was once valued. Currently, researchers are working on a prototype of the future vehicle.

Upon successful testing, the unique electrification kit will be able to bring similar Soviet machines kept in storage back to life. This is not just restoration, but a rethinking: the machine becomes part of a new technological circuit, where autonomy, flexibility, and efficiency are important.

Based on the jury’s evaluation, the SKB GUU project took first place in the category “Best scientific work by graduate students and young specialists.”

Congratulations to the scientists on their victory and we wish them further success in the development of the project!
