The competition “Best Mentor” took place at the Press-Frame Plant of PJSC KAMAZ.
The event was held at the Lesnaya Skazka recreation center. A total of 21 active mentors participated in the competition. The best personnel were presented by the Press Plant, Frame Plant, Welding and Painting Plant, Cabin Frame Plant, as well as the Chief Engineer’s Service. Each division sent one team to the contest.
The first stage of the competition was individual and tested the depth of knowledge and professional intuition of the plant workers. The theoretical part consisted of questions about the adaptation of a new employee. Participants had to demonstrate an understanding of all stages of this process: from the measures taken even before employment, to the nuances of the first working day and the step-by-step training in operational tasks. This tested not just knowledge of regulations, but the ability to build a system that helps a newcomer quickly get into the rhythm of production.
The practical part was based on the video case “First Day Tests.” The material was prepared by HR specialists in collaboration with young factory workers, making the task as realistic as possible. The contestants were required to analyze the situation and determine which steps were missed or carried out incorrectly by each participant in the adaptation process.
The second part of the competition was team-based and required mentors to be coordinated, precise, and able to convey information accurately. The first task was technical: teams assembled an electrical circuit. The second task required independently developing instructions for a work operation and conducting training of a new employee using a time-tested method of on-the-job training. Team representatives alternately trained their rivals. This approach allowed not only to test the skills of knowledge transfer but also to see how differently mentors approach the process, what techniques they use, and how they respond to questions and mistakes of newcomers.
