Among Moscow schoolchildren, interest in the IT field continues to grow. Sergey Sobyanin mentioned this on his channel on in the messenger “Max”.

“In 2026, to seventh grades

IT verticals more than 8,800 children enrolled — 10 percent more than last year. The 10th pre-professional IT classes accepted over 6,700 high school students — an increase of more than 20 percent. IT Vertical is an educational project for students in grades seven through nine, which has already been joined by over 23 thousand schoolchildren. They study specialized subjects in depth and form an understanding of IT industry areas such as robotics, big data, modeling, prototyping, artificial intelligence (AI), and information security. The students are supported by 15 leading universities — project partners, including the National Research University Higher School of Economics and the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

More than 12 thousand children are currently studying in IT classes. These are students in the 10th and 11th grades.

“They are mastering programming and information technologies, getting acquainted with in-demand IT specialties in the fields of AI and information security, learning to create 3D models and digital twins, and working with microcontrollers,” added Sergey Sobyanin.

10th-grade students simultaneously acquire the profession of coder at college. Among the partners of this project are 26 universities, including the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, MIREA – Russian Technological University, one research institute, and three leading Russian IT companies.

New programs have also been introduced in the capital’s schools. For example, in the seventh and tenth grades, they have started studying an updated programming course — it will prepare students to solve real-world problems in the digital industry.

Education in pre-professional classes promotes early career guidance for students and aligns with the project’s objectives “All the Best for Children” national project “Youth and Children”. More details about Russia’s national projects and the capital’s contribution can be found at special page.
