In the repertoire of theaters subordinate to the capital Department of Culture, there are not only plays with a large number of roles and decorations, but also monologues. “Mosbilet” explains what is interesting about such performances and which ones are worth visiting.

“Beethoven”

Date: October 23

A one-man show will be performed at the ‘Praktika’ theater “Beethoven”. On stage, actor Yuriy Mezhevich, known for theater and cinema, will perform. He will transform into the famous composer and tell about his difficult path from obscurity to worldwide fame. The story will be about talent and flaws, love and fear, despair, hope, duty, and the most terrible disease for a musician — deafness.

The director of the production is Hugo Eriksen. The performance will last one hour and 20 minutes without an intermission.

“A man was here”

Date: 25 October

The production of the ‘Vedogon Theater’ “A person was here” offers to reflect on the future. The sole role will be played by the theater and film actress Elena Shkurpelo. She will portray a heroine coming to an interview where talent is assessed by artificial intelligence. The machine gives tasks and carefully monitors their execution, while the actress shares her experiences.

The performance will feature poems by Jacques Prévert and François Villon, a novella by Ivan Bunin, a story by Anton Chekhov, and even a chapter from Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy.” The director-producer is Rodion Baryshev. The performance will last one hour and 20 minutes.

In addition, after the performance, there will be a meeting with the actress and an autograph session in the theater lobby.

Apogee

Dates: October 29, November 28, and December 30

The Moscow Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin will present a one-man show by Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Arsentyev “Apogee”. It is based on the eponymous story by Sergey Yursky, narrating about a short tour that did not go as planned.

The artist will describe three days in the life of an actor, intertwining backstage intrigues, tragedy, and comedy. The world of the stage seems attractive to the audience, sometimes even mysterious and magical. However, in reality, it is, like life itself, full of unexpected plot twists and complex human relationships.

The performance lasts one hour and 15 minutes without an intermission.

The one-man show will be presented by the People’s Artist of Russia Valery Sheyman. He will perform several works by Alexander Pushkin. Among them are “The Prophet,” “The Village,” “Elegy,” “A Scene from Faust,” “Count Nulin,” “The Monument,” and other poems. Thanks to the special strength of his voice and the deep baritone of the artist, the reading of Pushkin’s texts will not leave the audience indifferent.

The duration of the performance is one hour and 15 minutes without an intermission.

“Blizzard”

Date: December 6

Another performance dedicated to the work of the great poet will take place in the Zaryadye concert hall. The audience can expect a literary and musical composition “Blizzard” based on the eponymous work by Alexander Pushkin from the cycle “The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin”.

The text will be read by Vladimir Koshevoy, a theater and film actor, an artist of the Alexandrinsky Theater. The prose will be supplemented by live music performed by organist Daniel Zaretsky and pianist Evgeny Zaretsky.
