Beirut, April 18 /Xin Hua/ — Two peacekeepers from the French contingent of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were wounded on Saturday as a result of an incident involving gunfire in the town of Gandouria in southern Lebanon, local media reported.
How the local TV channel “Al-Jadid” reports, the incident occurred as a result of an exchange of fire between a group of young people and the personnel of the VSOONL, which escalated into a shootout.
This incident occurred against the backdrop of escalating tensions caused by the return of displaced families to their hometowns in southern Lebanon after the implementation of the ceasefire regime. –0–
