Tashkent, April 18 /Xin Hua/ — Central Asia is becoming an important player in the global competition for rare metals. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Muzaffar Madrahimov on Saturday at the sidelines of the fifth Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
The deputy minister noted that one of the key areas in the region is the expansion of cooperation in the field of innovation and technology, including the processing of critically important minerals.
M. Madrimov reported that the total GDP of the Central Asian states has grown over the past ten years from 250 billion to more than 500 billion US dollars.
In his speech, the diplomat also noted that the established relations in the region allow increasing the significance of the “Central Asia plus” format and strengthening its role in the global architecture of dialogue and diplomacy. He emphasized that Uzbekistan is open to broad and mutually beneficial cooperation with various partners, including China, Russia, the European Union, and the United States.
The Fifth Antalya Diplomatic Forum opened on April 17.
