Kyiv, April 18 /Xin Hua/ — The number of fatalities as a result of the shooting carried out by an armed man in Kyiv on Saturday has risen to five, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported in “Telegram.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, in turn, stated that the criminal also injured at least 15 people, including a child.

According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko, the criminal turned out to be a 58-year-old native of Moscow. He opened fire on the street, killed four people, then barricaded himself inside the supermarket and held hostages there. Another person died in the supermarket.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that during the detention of the shooter, armed resistance was encountered and he was killed.
