Every third Sunday of the month, everyone can visit Pavilion No. 1 “Central” at VDNH for free. The “Free Admission” campaign also applies to Museum of Slavic Writing “Slovo” and interactive museum complex “Buran”.
“The Art of the Stage. Academic Painting”
At the exhibition “Performing Arts. Academic Painting” About 200 exhibits are presented. These include paintings, graphics, sculptures, books, and theatrical costumes from 32 of the country’s largest museums.
The composition of the exhibition will help viewers see the connection between Russian academic painting and theater. The characters on the canvases, through gestures, facial expressions, and costumes, convince the viewer that before them is a living biblical scene, an ancient mythological plot, or a didactic narrative about Russian history, where every detail is an allegory. Genre painting immerses one in the world of everyday stories: peasant chores, urban bustle, or noble amusements. By closely observing the characters, one can attempt to understand their character and fate.
The exhibition will run until January 17, so on October 18, November 15, and December 20, admission will be free.
Free tours
On October 29, a tour titled “Andrei Ryabushkin: Between History and Poetry” will be held for visitors in honor of the artist’s birthday. During the tour, guests will recall the painter’s creative journey and iconic works, examine the paintings, and discuss the masters who influenced his fate. To attend the tour, it is necessary registration.
Furthermore, in October, visitors to Pavilion No. 1 “Central” can attend a free thematic tour called “The City That Plays.” It is timed to coincide with World Cities Day, celebrated on October 31. Visitors will be able to explore Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rome, and other places. Thanks to the exhibition’s exhibits, it will be possible to travel not only through space but also through time. To attend the tour, it is necessary to pre-registration. Entrance tickets can be obtained in the lobby of pavilion No. 1 “Central” 10 minutes before the start of the tour according to the list of registered participants.
