Moscow’s road industry unites professionals from over 240 specialties. These are manual labor workers, heavy machinery drivers, engineers, designers, meteorologists, and road rescuers. All of them work around the clock to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the city’s highways. This was mentioned on his channel in in the “Max” messenger wrote Sergey Sobyanin.

“The metropolis’s needs for materials for road repair are met thanks to the localization of production of ready-made asphalt concrete mixtures in the capital. Currently, there are 17 asphalt concrete plants operating in the city, producing almost 2,500 tons of products per hour. They are located in different districts of Moscow, which facilitates transport logistics,” said the Mayor of Moscow.

Kuryanovo Asphalt Concrete Plant

The asphalt concrete plant “Kuryanovo” of the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads” is located on Batyuninsky passage (building 5a) on an area of 2.7 hectares. The enterprise is equipped with two modern domestic units for the production of asphalt concrete mixture. They were commissioned in 2025. The construction of the units, the start of their operation, and the arrangement of the site took six months.

The equipment capacity is 240 tons of asphalt concrete mix per hour and 3,120 tons per day. Since the plant began operation, 480 thousand tons of mix have been produced, allowing for the laying of 3.1 million square meters of road surface.

“More than 100 specialists work at the ‘Kuryanovo’ plant, and the fleet of specialized equipment includes 11 units,” Sergey Sobyanin specified.

The team ensures a continuous technological process — from receiving and preparing components to manufacturing, laboratory control, and shipment of finished products.

The plant’s capacities allow for the production of all types of asphalt concrete mixtures necessary for road works on the capital’s streets and highways.

How production is organized

The plant’s premises are equipped with warehouses for inert materials of various types and fractions. Here, gabbro-diabase, granite, sand, and screenings are stored. Production management is concentrated in the control room, where specialists set the mixture formula according to requests received from the dispatch service.

To ensure product quality, the plant is equipped with modern laboratory equipment. It allows for the prompt determination of the main characteristics of raw materials and the finished mixture. The laboratory conducts tests on the properties of bituminous binder, uses molding presses and devices to check the strength of asphalt concrete samples.

17 factories meet the city’s needs

In total, the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads” manages 17 asphalt concrete plants with a total production capacity of 2,480 tons of mixture per hour, or more than 25,000 tons per shift. During the construction season, these enterprises enable the production of 3.8 million tons of asphalt concrete mixture, ensuring the laying of 25 million square meters of pavement.

The factories have been under construction since 2014. They are located in various administrative districts of Moscow and occupy a total area of 35.3 hectares. This arrangement ensures convenient transportation logistics and accessibility of production facilities within the metropolis.

There are 1,373 specialists working at asphalt concrete plants, with 204 units of equipment involved.

The production facilities fully meet the internal needs of the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads” for asphalt concrete mixture for current and comprehensive road repairs. Additionally, the enterprises cover the demand of the administrative district prefectures of Moscow for materials to renew road surfaces at landmark sites and courtyard areas.

Only domestic raw materials are used in production.

State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads”

The founding day of the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads” is considered to be April 13, 1932. On this day, the city cleaning trust was established, marking the beginning of centralized cleaning of Moscow using special equipment. In 2027, the enterprise will celebrate its 95th anniversary.

Today, it is the largest organization in the capital specializing in comprehensive road maintenance and service, managing about 40 percent of the city’s transport arteries — approximately 700 facilities covering a total area of over 46 million square meters. Among them are the Garden Ring and Third Transport Ring, Tverskaya Street, Leningradsky Prospect, Mira Avenue, Kiev Highway, Moscow Ring Road, and other central highways. Additionally, the enterprise serves parts of the territories of the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts.

More than 30 thousand people work at the State Budgetary Institution “Automobile Roads.” Of these, 40 percent are Muscovites, and the remaining 60 percent are residents of other Russian regions, mainly from the Bryansk, Kaluga, Moscow, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tula, and Yaroslavl regions.

The fleet includes over 10,000 road cleaning machines. It consists of snow loaders, aerial platforms, and motor graders, as well as sweeping, sidewalk cleaning, rotary, and other equipment. More than 90 percent of them are domestically produced.

Since 2016, the organization has been responsible for the care of green spaces: trees, flower beds, and other landscaping objects located along exit and ring highways. Today, specialists maintain 195 urban landscaping sites, including 13.8 million square meters of lawns and over 100 thousand square meters of flower beds.

The structure of the institution includes 62 road maintenance units and 17 asphalt concrete plants.

A large-scale project is presented on the portal mos.ru

special project, dedicated to the development of key sectors of Moscow. Among them are transport, industry, healthcare, education, sports, and the construction sector. The special project helps to learn how the capital has changed over the past years, which initiatives aimed at making urban life even more comfortable are currently being implemented, and what awaits Moscow and its residents in the near future. On the project page “Municipal infrastructure” you can learn about how engineering communications are developed and updated in the capital, how the separate waste collection system works, and the unified system for managing the urban economy.
