Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai Dmitry Demeshin. They discussed the development of education, sports, youth policy, and tourism in the region.
“Khabarovsk Krai is a true educational outpost of the Far East. The region actively utilizes the measures of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ which is being implemented on the initiative of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The focus is on developing infrastructure and creating conditions for realizing the potential of the younger generation. To this end, kindergartens and additional education centers are being created and updated, universities are supported, and the ‘Zemsky Teacher’ program is implemented. I especially note Khabarovsk Krai’s participation in the advanced schools project. I am confident that investment in children and youth is a powerful impetus for the development of the entire region,” noted Vice Premier Dmitry Chernyshenko.
As part of the federal project “Leading Schools” of the national project “Youth and Children,” an advanced school is planned to be created in Khabarovsk. It will become a magnet for talented students from across the Far East and will prepare a talent pool for science-intensive and high-tech sectors of the economy. The institution will accommodate 600 students in grades 7–11. A campus will be built for non-resident children, and a dormitory for teachers.
“Khabarovsk Krai receives a unique opportunity to become the educational center of the entire Far East. I am confident that the new school will give talented children from all regions the chance to realize their potential,” noted Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of Khabarovsk Krai.
Currently, 16 institutions are being built and renovated simultaneously in the region – 5 schools and 11 kindergartens. In total, by 2030, the region plans to build 9 schools with 9,000 places and 17 kindergartens with approximately 4,500 places, including within the framework of the national projects “Youth and Children” and “Family.”
The governor also emphasized that the Khabarovsk Krai annually becomes a venue for district, all-Russian, and international youth events. In June, the All-Russian festival “Russian Student Spring” of professional educational institutions was held in Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Special emphasis is placed on patriotic education.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Dmitry Demeshin discussed the region’s cooperation with the People’s Republic of China. In the first half of the year, the Khabarovsk Territory was visited by over 8,000 Chinese guests, which is 17.5% more than during the same period in 2025. This result was made possible thanks to the visa-free regime.
“We see and support the active work of the Khabarovsk Krai on the national project ‘Tourism and Hospitality.’ Thanks to the unified subsidy and preferential lending within the national project, several hotels are being established. This helps make vacations more comfortable for residents of the region, as well as attract travelers from other regions and countries,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
A new railway tourist route, “Eastern Necklace of Russia,” has been established in the region, covering 4 subjects of the Far East. Water recreation and sports-tourism complexes will appear in the coming years.
The year 2026 in Khabarovsk Krai has been declared the Year of Sports. More than 700 thousand people are involved in regular sports activities and various forms of physical exercise. In 2026, construction is underway for 32 sports facilities catering to all age groups: 4 modular prefabricated physical culture and health complexes (PHCs), small sports grounds, a smart sports ground in the Nikolaevsky district, and 4 GTO sports grounds. A swimming pool is being built in Khabarovsk, and the first phygital center has already opened.
