At the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Denis Sekirinsky and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of St. Petersburg Irina Ganus held a meeting on the preparation and conduct of the VI Congress of Young Scientists. Representatives of leading universities and scientific organizations of St. Petersburg also participated in the event.
The meeting discussed the organization of the VI Congress of Young Scientists, the requirements for participation and accreditation, the preparation of exhibition spaces, volunteer and cultural support.
The IV Congress of Young Scientists will be held in Saint Petersburg from December 2 to 4, 2026. Its goal is to promote the strengthening of the role of science and technology in addressing the most important challenges of societal and national development. It is an annually dynamic business, exhibition, and communication platform for the global scientific community, established by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in 2021.
The Congress of Young Scientists has grown significantly since 2021. The number of participants and partners has increased, the exhibition area has expanded, and the business program has become more substantial. The Congress is an interdisciplinary platform where scientists from different fields can communicate, listen to each other, and find intersections for new ideas,
The congress brings together outstanding scientific leaders, representatives of leading scientific schools from different regions of Russia, scientific and educational organizations, government authorities, industrial partners, representatives of business and state corporations, and most importantly — young scientists representing various fields of science.
It is important to note that the congress is not just a platform for showcasing scientific achievements, but an environment where young researchers find like-minded colleagues, gain professional guidance, and engage in solving large-scale scientific and technological challenges. I would like to emphasize that the participation of representatives from more than 100 countries gives the congress an international dimension: the exchange of ideas and scientific collaboration help foster a new generation of researchers on whom Russia’s technological leadership depends, — emphasized SPbPU rector Andrey Rudskoy.
The Head of the Department of Scientific Projects and Programs Support, Natalia Leontieva, spoke about the concept of the Polytechnic’s booth at the Congress. SPbPU will present the university’s key scientific and technological developments and show what opportunities are available here for young researchers and how to take advantage of them.
The concept is based on three stations. The first station is “Get to Know Polytech.” This involves an introduction to the university’s research, developments, and scientific communities. Lectures, discussions, meetings with scientists, scientific demonstrations, and interactive activities are planned here. Polytech will also invite external speakers — renowned scientists and science popularizers. They will give lectures and participate in open dialogues with young researchers.
The second station is “Working with Industry.” It is dedicated to the tasks of enterprises, joint projects with the university, joint scientific centers, and laboratories. Specialists will demonstrate with examples how such cooperation is organized, and how a young researcher can join the work of a laboratory or scientific team.
The third station is “Build a Scientific Career.” Here visitors can get advice on postgraduate studies, choosing a scientific advisor, and employment, as well as participate in master classes on preparing scientific articles and postgraduate portfolios, and applying for Presidential scholarships.
The poster scientific program includes more than 30 events of various formats: open lectures, panel discussions and dialogues with leading scientists and external speakers, presentations of joint projects and industrial cases, development demonstrations. Quizzes, quests, business games, master classes, and personal consultations on graduate school, choosing a scientific advisor, employment, and submission of a scientific resume are planned.
The Polytechnic’s stand will serve as a platform for showcasing the university’s achievements and simultaneously as a tool for engaging young scientists in the university’s scientific ecosystem. Our goal is for every visitor to leave with a concrete next step: a consultation, an application, a useful contact, or a submitted scientific résumé, Natalia Leontieva noted in her speech.
