The capital helps companies through the entire automation journey — from process diagnostics and selecting solutions to equipment leasing. This was stated at the plenary session of the “Effective Automation” forum. Maria Bagreeva, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, head of the Moscow Department of Economic Policy and City Development.
“Robotization in Moscow is becoming one of the key factors in increasing the efficiency of the economy and urban management. Today, robots are being implemented in almost all sectors of the capital’s economy — not only in traditional manufacturing but also in transportation, trade, logistics, construction — throughout the entire service sector related to population servicing. The potential for robotization is quite high, and businesses understand this: according to a survey conducted by the Government of Moscow, every second company in the capital considers it a key tool for improving enterprise efficiency and addressing the existing issues of staff shortages and high labor costs. For example, in sectors with a significant share of manual labor, robotization helps compensate for personnel shortages and achieve a substantial productivity increase — up to 40 percent,” said Maria Bagreeva.
Spot solutions, which are often implemented in capital city enterprises, are sometimes insufficient to achieve the maximum effect from robotization. The deputy mayor noted that Moscow’s task is to help city companies move from implementing robots for a specific task to comprehensive robotization of business processes. To this end, the city is creating an entrepreneurial support ecosystem that stimulates demand for robotization, accelerates implementation, and lowers the financial entry barrier.
With the assistance of experts from the Moscow Government and the non-profit organization “Mosstrategia,” Moscow companies can evaluate their digital maturity for free, identify the processes where robotization will have the greatest effect, receive help in selecting solutions and distributors, as well as calculate the payback period. Together with solution suppliers and integrators Government of Moscow implements a support measure that provides companies access to leasing service and collaborative robots on favorable terms: a minimal initial payment and staged payments allow for process modernization without peak financial strain, thereby reducing companies’ initial robotization expenses by approximately 70 percent.
Maria Bagreeva added that the participants of the federal project “Labor productivity» educational courses on robotics fundamentals may be held in Moscow, which will be open to all metropolitan companies starting next year. Among other tools available also to entrepreneurs from other regions are a registry of 240 active solution providers and integrators, as well as a knowledge base including more than 300 standard solutions for digitalization and robotics, and cases on lean technologies.

Starting from 2025, Moscow companies are increasing labor productivity as part of the national project “An efficient and competitive economy” (federal project “Labor Productivity”). Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin reported that 535 participants joined the project capital city enterprises. Its implementation in Moscow is funded by the city budget, which gives companies the opportunity to analyze and optimize their processes without additional financial burden.
