Specialists urban utilities complex 2.5 million water quality tests have been conducted since the beginning of the year. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Currently, the condition of the capital’s water is analyzed by the maximum number of physico-chemical and biological indicators — a total of 200. Since the beginning of the year, 2.5 million different studies have already been conducted, which once again confirmed that the water supplied to the taps of Muscovites meets all requirements and standards,” said Petr Biryukov.
Moscow consumes almost three million cubic meters of water daily. About 13,000 kilometers of water supply networks have been laid in the capital. This complex system requires constant monitoring and prompt adjustment of parameters when necessary.
Water quality is monitored throughout its entire path — at the water source, at water treatment stations, and in the distribution network. Instruments track changes in the main water composition indicators around the clock. Data from analyzers are sent to a unified information system. With its help, specialists can quickly make decisions about changing the technological modes of treatment.
In addition to laboratory studies, more than 600 automatic control devices help monitor water quality in real time. The results of their analyses are transmitted to the social and hygienic monitoring system of the capital.
