Vice Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova held another meeting of the Council under the Government of Russia on guardianship issues in the social sphere. The topic of the meeting was the implementation of measures to preserve the health of senior citizens.
Opening the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova emphasized that President Vladimir Putin has set the task of increasing life expectancy to 81 years by 2036, and, which is particularly important, — healthy life expectancy.
She reminded that last year the Government approved the Strategy of actions in the interests of the older generation citizens and the plan for its implementation.
“By 2030, a whole range of measures aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly citizens, creating conditions for the realization of personal potential is envisaged. A large block of measures is devoted to health preservation, disease prevention, improving access to medical care, introducing new methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases, extending active healthy longevity,” said the vice-premier.
This work was started as part of the national project “Demography”, and is now continuing as part of the national projects “Family” and “Long and Active Life”.
Members and experts of the Council discussed issues of social support for healthy longevity in the region, the development of geriatric care in Russia, as well as issues of early disease prevention and the formation of an environment conducive to healthy aging and active life for elderly citizens.
With presentations were Deputy Chairman of the Council, President of ANO “Healthy Future” Pyotr Rodionov, Director of the Russian Gerontological Scientific and Clinical Center, Chief Freelance Geriatrician of the Ministry of Health of Russia Olga Tkachenko, Director of the National Medical Research Center of Therapy and Preventive Medicine, Chief Freelance Specialist in Therapy and General Medical Practice of the Ministry of Health of Russia Oksana Drapkina, Director of the charitable foundation “Joy in Old Age” Elizaveta Oleskina, Co-chairman of the All-Russian Union of Public Patient Associations Yuriy Zhulev, Vice-Rector of NIUWSHE Lilia Ovcharova.
