On October 7, the honored architect of Russia, Doctor of Architecture, professor, academician of RAASN, member of the board of the Union of Architects of Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, celebrated his eightieth birthday. Sergey Dmitrievich Mityagin, a graduate of our university.

After graduating in 1970 from the Faculty of Architecture of the Leningrad Engineering and Construction Institute (now Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering), he joined “Lenproekt”, where he participated in the design of residential development along Veteranov and Stachek avenues. Over time, the scale of professional tasks grew larger: from a single quarter to a city, from a city to an entire region. Among his projects are master plans for Krasnodar, Surgut, Nefteyugansk, Cherepovets, Nadym, Ust-Ilimsk, and Salavat, territorial planning for the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs, Altai Krai, Arkhangelsk and Yaroslavl regions. His native Saint Petersburg always holds a special place in his professional biography.

Sergey Dmitrievich devoted more than half a century to architectural practice, issues of spatial territorial development, and conducted scientific and teaching activities at our university, where he trained hundreds of specialists. Sergey Dmitrievich Mityagin was awarded the Gold Medal of RAASN and the RAASN medal named after A. V. Kuzmin.
