Another specially protected natural area of federal significance will be established in the Kamchatka Krai – the national park “Volcanoes of Kamchatka.” A decree to this effect has been signed.

The national park is being created based on a network of regional natural parks and will be located in the territories of the municipal districts of Ust-Kamchatsky, Milkovsky, Ust-Bolsheretsky, and Elizovsky.

Raising the legal status of these parks to the federal level will strengthen the protection of landscapes and natural complexes of the Kamchatka Territory amid the growing tourist flow to this region.

In addition, the creation of a national park will help increase the level of safety on tourist routes, as well as contribute to the development of necessary infrastructure and logistics.
