Specialists urban infrastructure complex they landscaped and greened the territory of the new recreational area and reinforced the riverbank on Nizhnie Mnevniki Street in the northwest of the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Currently, the territory of the Mnevniki floodplain is actively developing. The main task of the work on Nizhnie Mnevniki Street was to create a modern and comfortable promenade along the water and a new attraction point for the district’s residents. The length of the pedestrian deck is about two kilometers, its foundation consists of more than 1,600 piles and a metal frame weighing 350 tons. The covering is made of terrace decking, which is resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations,” noted Petr Biryukov.
On the deck, seven rest areas with benches and pergolas were created. In addition, viewing platforms were arranged, one of which is located on the upper level of the street — a sculptural composition “To the Sun” was installed on it.
Next to it, a children’s playground covering 270 square meters was equipped with a rubber surface, play complexes, and swings for kids of different ages.
The steep river slopes were reinforced with biomats made of natural fibers embedded with grass seeds, which will quickly create a green cover and help protect the soil from erosion. At the lower part of the slope on flat areas, the hydroseeding technology was used — spraying a mixture of grass seeds, fertilizer, mulch, and hydrogel.
For city residents’ walks, paths with eco-friendly surfacing totaling about 1.3 kilometers in length were laid. Specialists also installed 85 lamps with energy-efficient light fixtures and mounted architectural and artistic lighting.
During the implementation of all capital improvement projects, landscaping is always carried out. For example, in the area of the new walking route, more than 13 thousand square meters of lawn were planted and nearly 200 square meters of perennial flower beds were planted.
About the new pedestrian route along the water in the Mnevniki floodplain was previously reported by Sergey Sobyanin.
