The Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line will be extended beyond the MKAD — to the urban district of Mytishchi. A station of the same name is planned to open by 2035. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for urban policy and construction. Vladimir Efimov.
“According to the plans announced by the Mayor of Moscow, seven radial lines of the Moscow metro are planned to be extended beyond the MKAD by 2035. One of them is the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. It will stretch 3.5 kilometers from Medvedkovo station to Mytishchi. The exact location of the new station will be determined at the stage of preparing the metro line planning project. Thanks to the extension of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line, the capital will become closer for residents of the Mytishchi urban district, with a projected population of 540 thousand people, as well as nearby settlements in the Moscow region. The launch of this section will reduce the load on Yaroslavskoye highway and the Yaroslavskoye direction of the Moscow railway,” said Vladimir Efimov.
Opening Moscow Central Circle, Big Circle Line metro and Moscow Central Diameters allowed the extension of the radial lines beyond the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD). Transport systems helped redistribute part of the passenger flow.
“The extension of the Moscow Metro into the region will make residents’ travel more convenient and comfortable. Journeys will become roughly twice as fast, with dozens of new routes for multimodal trips emerging. More than 50,000 passengers will use the ‘Mytishchi’ station daily. Their travel time to the city center will be reduced by an average of 30 minutes,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin reported that the extension metro to the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts and the Moscow region will make the city closer for two million Muscovites and 3.7 million residents of the Moscow region.
