Resident special economic zone (SEZ) “Technopolis Moscow” has developed a new unique microchip. The entirely domestic chip unites various electronic devices into a single reliable network for fast data transmission and processing. The company has already submitted documents to include the device in the register of Russian industrial products. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, the city is developing microelectronics as one of the key directions of the country’s technological sovereignty. Today, more than 40 companies create advanced components in the capital’s special economic zone. The new microchip is entirely manufactured in Moscow using proprietary technologies and replaces complex-to-supply foreign analogs. In total, the enterprise has produced over 10,000 types of microchips for key industries — from telecommunications to space. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, the plant has developed 114 types of products, two of which have already been launched into production,” noted Maxim Liksutov.
The development is carried out by one of the oldest manufacturers in the field of microelectronics — the company Angstrom. The uniqueness of the microchip lies in the complete cycle based on domestic technologies — from crystal design to product release. This guarantees quality control and supply stability.
The device operates according to the global RS-485 protocol, which remains the standard in industrial automation, energy, and security systems. The chip is resistant to interference, transmits data over long distances, and replaces expensive foreign counterparts.
The development is in demand in industry and urban infrastructure. It is used in intelligent sensors, measuring instruments, communication systems, security, and automatic control in factories where precise coordination of processes is important. The product is easy to integrate into existing technical systems.
The special economic zone “Technopolis Moscow” will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026 since its founding. Over two decades, the project has transformed from a launching pad for innovative projects into a key hub of domestic industry and a center of attraction for companies defining Russia’s technological sovereignty. Today, on 10 sites of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, covering a total area of 430 hectares, the production of more than 250 high-tech enterprises has been localized, representing such strategic sectors as microelectronics, instrumentation, biomedicine, IT, and robotics.
