First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev held the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. The parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in priority sectors, including industry, energy, transport, education, and tourism.
“Despite the difficulties in the global economy, trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan continues to demonstrate stable positive dynamics. According to our data, over the 7 months of the current year, it increased by 20% and amounted to about 7.5 billion dollars. It is especially important that mutual trade is developing in both directions, with both Russian exports and our imports from Uzbekistan growing,” noted Denis Manturov.
Today, more than 3,500 companies with Russian capital participation operate in Uzbekistan. At the same time, Russia holds a leading position in the number of joint manufacturing enterprises.
In addition, Russian-Uzbek cooperation in the field of industrial infrastructure is actively developing. Thus, alongside the already successfully operating sites “Chirchik” and “Jizzakh,” a new industrial zone was opened in Navoi in April.
“Currently, preparations are underway for the launch of the ‘Bekabad’ technopark in the Tashkent region,” emphasized Denis Manturov.
Following the event, the co-chairs of the IPC signed the protocol of the 27th meeting of the intergovernmental commission. The Strategy for the Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2026–2040 was also signed, which envisages strengthening the human resource potential, creating joint research infrastructure, and increasing the investment attractiveness of scientific developments.
