Until November 10, 2026, students may register for the X season of the All-Russian Olympiad “I am a Professional,” the flagship project of the Presidential platform “Russia — Land of Opportunities.” In the jubilee season, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University acts as the organizer of the “Mechanical Engineering” direction.
The Olympiad is already ten years old. During this time, it has become one of the largest platforms for professional growth, where more than 1.6 million students from all Russian regions and 147 countries around the world have tried their skills. The project’s ecosystem includes over 750 employers and more than 1,100 participating universities. Together, they help students gain practical experience, complete internships, and build their career paths.
Applications can be submitted by those studying at the bachelor’s, specialist, or master’s level at a Russian university, regardless of the form of study. This season includes 68 fields, covering a wide range of areas, including engineering, natural sciences, medicine, education, entrepreneurship, and digital technologies. So, students of many specialties will be able to test their knowledge on practical tasks.
The Olympiad unites young people with different experiences. Some are already working today on Russia’s technological leadership: building careers in leading companies, launching their own projects, conducting scientific research. Others, for example freshmen, are just taking their first steps in the profession, and here they have a chance to choose their development vector from the very beginning. Mechanical engineering for us is one of the main scientific directions, where fundamental scientific schools and strong traditions of engineering education have formed. Our teachers, together with industry practitioners, have created interesting tasks for participants based on real production cases. I am confident that working on them will captivate the students and allow them to look at their subject field in a new way. A strong point of Polytech is polytechnic nature, an interdisciplinary approach both to education and to solving applied industrial problems. Therefore, my advice to students: choose several related directions at once. Olympiad diploma holders can expect internships at major companies and benefits when enrolling in the next level of education, while medalists will receive cash prizes of up to 300,000 rubles. The qualifying stage is scheduled for November 13–29, and the final will take place from February to April 2027. The season results will be announced in May–June 2027.
