In October, at the city art center “Moscow Workshops” of the Agency for Creative Industries, subordinate to the capital Department of Culture, have prepared a rich program for visitors. Citizens can expect daily tours of the new exhibition “Hotel at the Edge of the Universe,” workshops for children and adults in the exhibition space, and sports activities.

Exhibition “Hotel at the Edge of the Universe”

From September 30 to December 2, the exhibition “Hotel at the Edge of the Universe” is presented at “Moscow Workshops” — the final project of the residents of the third season. Curator — Eteri Ordzhonikidze.

The exhibition displays about 70 works by 35 contemporary artists, created in various techniques — from painting, graphics, and ceramics to sculpture, metal objects, and digital art. All of them reveal the theme of the hero’s change of state in a journey between worlds, inspired by the universe of Douglas Adams. Behind each door hides an author’s room, as well as a unique way to speak about changes and their perception.

Guided tours of the exhibition take place daily at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, required pre-registration.

From yoga to dancing

In October, the exhibition space will become a venue for regular training sessions of the project “My Sports District”.

The exhibition offers an opportunity to take a pause from the city’s hustle and bustle, slow down, rest, and be alone with yourself. Sport teaches control over movement and breathing, art teaches looking and feeling. A regular workout ceases to be a routine and gives the exhibition dynamism.

At yoga classes, visitors will perform simple exercises that gently load muscles and joints, and will also learn to control their breathing. Zumba and dance fitness will provide a boost of energy, help express emotions, and develop flexibility. Stretching workouts are suitable for those who want to improve flexibility but prefer smooth movements and attention to their sensations.

Pre-registration on the project website is required to participate “My Sports District”.

Creativity for children and adults

The creative studio “NeMalevich” operates at “Moscow Workshops” for everyone aged three and up. The program includes several areas: ceramics, drawing, painting, 2D animation, and crafts. A suitable format has been selected for each age group and skill level.

In ceramics classes, toddlers mold free-form items that, after firing, turn into dishes or small souvenirs. Children over eight years old and adults work with different types of clay, glazes, and engobes, learning techniques and creating their own decor.

During drawing and painting classes, children from four to seven years old learn to mix paints and work with different materials. Participants over eight years old, including adults, can master an area of interest — from academic drawing and anime to sketching and digital illustration.

2D animation is a separate format for children from eight years old and adults. Under the guidance of experienced artists, participants create mini-cartoons using cutout and clay animation techniques and go through the process from idea to finished film.

In handicraft classes, visitors are offered to learn bead weaving, crochet, sewing felt toys, and macramé. They take place in mini-groups of up to five people, and participants can choose an open topic.

The current schedule is posted on the website “Moscow Workshops”, you can also purchase tickets for the master classes there.
