On September 29, the second day events of the strategic session on science and business cooperation “Automation and Robotization – the Foundation of Industrial Growth” were held at the State University of Management, organized jointly with the State Corporation “Rostec”.
The final day program began with a Dialogue with Youth. Ramil Nezhmetdinov, lead researcher at the Center for Space Research, Unmanned and Radio-Electronic Technologies at GUU, professor at MSTU “STANKIN”, and Doctor of Technical Sciences, spoke to students about the key stages of the transition from the first industrial revolution to Industry 4.0. The audience learned how industry developed over the centuries – from the beginnings of mechanization and assembly line production to automation and robotization of the processes involved in creating “digital factories” and working with big data.
The speaker introduced the students to the achievements of outstanding Russian scientists – Pavel Shilling, Vladimir Shukhov, and Sergey Lebedev, whose developments made a huge contribution to the development of domestic and world engineering and laid the groundwork for the transition to the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), which is ongoing, blurring the boundaries between physical and digital technologies.
At the end of the meeting, participants discussed the prospects for the formation of Industry 5.0, the center of which should undoubtedly be the human being – a highly qualified manager capable of creating a new production ecosystem where innovation and artificial intelligence do not replace employees, but enhance their creative potential, professional skills, and contribute to sustainable development.
The strategic session “Automation and Robotics – the Foundation of Industrial Growth” concluded with the work of the thematic section “Opportunities and Implemented Projects of Student Design Bureaus,” moderated by Andrey Tolmachev, head of the science and business cooperation division at the State Corporation “Rostec,” and Kirill Zyuzin, deputy head of the project office for the implementation of the SDB program.
At the session, participants discussed the engineering challenges that student design bureaus are addressing today, how they organize team work and establish cooperation with enterprises and business partners. Scientists from GUU, Bauman MSTU, Kosygin RGU, RTU MIREA, HSE, Moscow Polytechnic, and other leading universities presented the results of their research in the fields of production process automation, mechatronics and robotics, drive systems, microelectronics and intelligent instrumentation, reverse engineering, the agro-industrial complex and geological exploration, as well as shared their experience in organizing project-based learning and involving students in scientific activities.
Following the performances, a discussion took place on possible forms of cooperation between the SKB and industrial partners. Participants noted that the development of student design bureaus creates a foundation for early involvement of young people in engineering practice and can become a sustainable mechanism for transferring competencies from universities to enterprises. Further work will focus on solving specific industrial tasks and the cooperation of the SKB with organizations of the real economic sector to implement joint projects.
