In the capital, thorough inspections of the metro infrastructure are regularly conducted. Sergey Sobyanin spoke about the diagnostic trains on his channel on in the messenger “Max”.

“The safety and comfort of passengers are the top priorities of the Moscow Metro. The proper maintenance of tracks, tunnels, and stations is overseen by specialists operating diagnostic trains,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.

Checking the geometry of the rail track gauge, searching for possible defects in the rails, recording the superstructure of the track on video, and much more are aided by “Synergy-1” and “Synergy-2.” They are built on the basis of type 81-717/714 cars (“Numbered”). Together, the two trains cover each line on average three to four times a month.

The track-measuring train is composed of cars from the Ez-3 series. Its main function is to measure the rail gauge, but the capabilities of the train are not limited to this. It includes a signaling, centralization, and blocking laboratory car, which conducts diagnostics of signaling devices. Most often, the train is used to check service-connection branches, depot lines, and new sections of the metro during their commissioning.

The self-propelled multifunctional diagnostic complex performs three-dimensional track scanning and diagnostics of its overall condition, measures the geometric parameters of the rail gauge, and conducts other inspections. The main feature of the complex is the diesel engine. It allows passage through sections without power supply, which is especially important when inspecting new metro sections.

“This year, diagnostic trains have traveled over 26 thousand kilometers through subway tunnels. The trains inspected all 17 lines, service-connecting branches, and electric depots. They have also examined and first section “Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, which was launched on September 5,” noted Sergey Sobyanin.
