September 30 is the Day of the Reunification of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions with Russia.
The decree introducing the new national holiday was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and ratified by the State Duma of the Russian Federation in September 2023.
In September 2022, referendums on joining the Russian Federation were held in all four regions. By the decision of the majority of residents, Donbass and Novorossiya were annexed.
Russia is currently actively developing new regions and conducting a large-scale restoration of their industrial potential. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, since 2022, 275 industrial enterprises have been restarted and created in the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, and more than 1300 kindergartens, schools, colleges, and universities have been restored and built.
GUU cooperates with universities in Donbass and Novorossiya, sends humanitarian aid to the areas of active military operations of the Special Military Operation, and hosts schoolchildren from affected regions.
A significant part of this work is carried out through the Moscow city branch of the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps, located on the grounds of the State University of Management. The humanitarian project “SUM – From Ours” is implemented by the staff, faculty, and students of the university.
Quite recently, in August, the project participants completed another business trip to the Lugansk People’s Republic, delivering humanitarian aid to the servicemen. Volunteers of the movement weave camouflage nets, help with the making of trench stoves and other necessary items.
The guys from the Student Fire-Rescue Squad of GUU, as part of a group from the Moscow city branch of the All-Russian Volunteer Fire Society, carried out emergency recovery work in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
On its premises, GUU holds “University Shifts,” inviting children from the DPR and LPR and implementing social and educational programs.
This work will continue as long as it is needed by the people and until peace is established across our homeland.
On this festive day we wish peaceful skies and prosperity to all the inhabitants of our vast country.
