Since the beginning of 2026, more than 700 new buses and electric buses have been delivered to the Mosgortrans fleets. The new vehicles operate on city and suburban routes, including those connecting Moscow with the Moscow Region. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

“By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, as part of the transport development strategy until 2030, we continue the large-scale renewal of the rolling stock. This year, more than 200 generation A5 electric buses with innovative charging technology have joined the Mosgortrans fleets. This unique equipment features a high level of comfort and reduces the impact on the city’s ecology,” said Maksim Liksutov.

Comfortable and environmentally friendly

This year, the Mosgortrans fleets were supplemented with A5 generation electric buses featuring charging technology from stations with inverted-type pantographs, NefAZ-5299 buses in urban and suburban configurations, mid-class “Citymax-12” and “Citymax-9”, mid-class KamAZ-4290, as well as small-class buses. All new vehicles are manufactured in Russia and meet the highest standards of Moscow transport. The delivery of 10 more LiAZ-6274 electric buses is expected in the fall.

One of the models that debuted on the capital’s routes this year was the KamAZ-52222 electric buses of generation A5, supplied in 2026. They are equipped with a recharge technology using inverted-type pantograph stations. Contact rails are installed on the roof of the electric bus, connecting to the movable device of the charging station’s dome.

In the new model, the middle and rear doors do not take up space inside the cabin when opened. There are also places for hand luggage and door lighting indicating the beginning and end of boarding. The storage area for bicycles and strollers has been increased by 15 percent. In addition, the electric buses have been equipped with a more efficient climate control system.

2026 model year buses are deployed on the “Moscow — Region” project routes, which connect metro stations in the capital with nearby cities in the Moscow region. Since 2025, modern Mosgortrans vehicles have operated on more than 60 such routes. New small-class buses also run on routes linking small settlements in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Okrugs (TiNAO) with important district attraction points.

Low-floor buses and electric buses are adapted for passengers with reduced mobility. They are equipped with a folding platform and driver call buttons. If necessary, the driver assists passengers in boarding and alighting from the vehicle.

Bicycles, strollers, or large luggage can be conveniently placed on the accumulating platform. USB slots are installed in the cabin for charging gadgets. In addition, there are media screens that display up-to-date information about upcoming stops and possible transfers.

The climate control system allows maintaining an optimal temperature inside the cabin at any time of the year. The air curtain, which activates when the doors open, helps retain heat inside electric buses.

Electric bus fleets

Today, electric buses operate at 13 Mosgortrans sites. Moscow was the first in Russia to begin building modern electric bus fleets. In 2022, the first in the country and the largest in Europe electric bus park “Krasnaya Pakhra” opened in TiNAO. Vehicles started routes in TiNAO.

A year later, the Mitino park was built in the northwest. With its opening, transportation began operating on routes in 20 districts of the capital and two nearby towns of the Moscow region. At the end of 2023, the third innovative electric bus park — Saltykovka — became operational. It serves routes in the eastern part of the city.

According to the data from Moscow Ecology Monitoring Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, thanks to the replacement of buses with electric buses in the city from 2018 to 2025, approximately 1.3 thousand tons of pollutants and 300 thousand tons of CO2 — the equivalent of greenhouse gases — were avoided being emitted into the atmosphere.

In 2025 alone, approximately 380 tons of pollutants and 110 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent — greenhouse gases — were prevented from being emitted.

The capital is developing ground urban transport. Comfortable and safe vehicles deliver passengers to rail network stations, as well as to important social, cultural, sports facilities, and points of attraction.
