On September 23, young people from 17 countries joined local residents at a cultural event dedicated to the Mid-Autumn Festival, held at the square by Ulan-Mulun Lake in the Kangbashi district of Ordos city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The event brought together international students, local schoolchildren, volunteers, police officers, and other members of the local community so they could get acquainted with the traditions of Chinese festivals and learn more about the culture of Ordos.

The program included fan painting in the technique of lacquer painting, making Mongolian headdresses, making lanterns, paper cutting, and calligraphy. Guests could also try on traditional Chinese clothing and participate in games.

Foreign students from several Beijing universities, along with local artists, performed at the evening gala concert, which included performances on the morin khuur, poetry readings, dances, and songs. Chinese and foreign performers together sang the song “The Moon Represents My Heart,” thereby emphasizing the themes of the Mid-Autumn Festival — reunion and friendship.

Combining traditional crafts, steppe culture, and international exchange, the event allowed foreign guests to get closer to Chinese traditions and created opportunities for communication between people from different countries.
