From October 5 to 9, the final of the 12th Moscow Championship “Abilympics-2026” — a professional skills competition for people with health disabilities — will be held in the capital. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“For 12 years now, the professional skills competition ‘Abilympics’ has brought together thousands of participants with health conditions and leading city employers who need qualified personnel. The masters not only participate in contests but also have the opportunity to undergo internships and find employment with partner companies. From October 5 to 9, the final of the Moscow championship ‘Abilympics-2026’ will take place in the capital. Nearly 900 masters will perform, including talented schoolchildren, college and university students, and experienced specialists. Six veterans of the special military operation have also submitted applications. Participants will be able to demonstrate their skills in 65 competencies, of which 12 are new areas relevant to the labor market. The competitions will be held at 21 city venues; for the first time, one of them will be the practical training center ‘Professions of the Future’ in Pechatniki. Based on the results of the Moscow final, a team representing the capital will be formed to participate in the national championship,” Anastasia Rakova said.
The program of the Abilympics-2026 championship covers a wide range of fields — from industrial professions and information technology to medicine, education, service industry, and creative specialties. The tasks are as close to real production challenges as possible: participants will have to develop websites, design robots, use laser technologies, operate modern machines, and conduct laboratory research.
Most of the craftsmen will demonstrate their skills in carpentry and locksmithing, robotics, and drone piloting. Creative fields are also popular, such as “Artist-designer” and “Florist.”
More than 300 experts will evaluate the contestants, including representatives of leading employers such as “Roscosmos Media,” the Salyut production complex, the Almaz scientific and production association, Domodedovo Airport, companies like “Auchan,” “1C,” and others. Partner companies participate in the development of tasks. They also assess the skill level of potential employees during the competition: observing how they respond to non-standard tasks, whether they can promptly correct mistakes, and maintain concentration within the allotted time.
The national championship will take place from October 31 to November 3 of this year at the Timiryazev Center exhibition complex in Moscow. Over the 12 years of the championship’s existence in the capital, more than nine thousand city residents have participated. The Moscow team consistently leads the overall medal tally at the Abilympics national championship among all regions every year.
