Since the beginning of the year, 49 sites for new housing construction have been freed up in eight districts of the capital as part of the implementation renovation programs. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Vladimir Efimov.
“One of the main principles of the renovation program is the phased resettlement of Muscovites, which is successfully maintained thanks to the construction of new residential complexes on the sites of demolished houses. After the buildings are completely vacated, they are dismantled, and on the freed-up territories, residential buildings with accompanying infrastructure are erected for the implementation of the renovation program. This allows the city to improve the quality of the environment and enables residents to remain in their neighborhood. In 2026, we cleared 49 such sites, planned for the construction of modern new buildings with a total residential area of more than 900 thousand square meters,” said Vladimir Efimov.
Residential complexes will be built on the freed-up sites in accordance with modern safety and quality standards. The apartments will have improved layouts thanks to wide corridors and spacious kitchens.
Thus, in the Eastern Administrative District this year, 17 sites have been completely cleared for housing construction, and in the south-eastern and north-eastern parts of Moscow — eight each. Another six areas have been prepared for housing development in the Western Administrative District of the capital. On some of these sites, residential complexes are being built following barrier-free environment principles. The entrances feature wide corridors, and the vestibules and elevator lobbies are located on the same level, without steps. Paths in the courtyards are designed to allow convenient movement for all residents.
The renovation program was approved in August 2017. It concerns about one million Muscovites and provides for the resettlement of 5,176 buildings. Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin instructed to increase the pace of the renovation program implementation in twice. He also spoke about the implementation of the renovation program in Ryazan district.
