The repair of platform No. 1 at Shcherbinka station of the second has been completed Moscow Central Diameter (MCD-2). The work was carried out by the Central Suburban Passenger Company (CPPK) together with the capital’s By the Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development.
“After the opening of the Moscow City Station, Shcherbinka station has become more in demand among passengers — today on a working day more than 16 thousand trips are made here. In order to increase the level of comfort, we are comprehensively renovating the station’s infrastructure and bringing it up to the modern standards of Moscow transport. The renovation of platforms, navigation, and safety elements will make passengers’ daily trips even more convenient,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
On the platform from which trains depart to Moscow, a new surface has been laid and a modern canopy has been erected, which reliably protects passengers from precipitation and sunlight, making trips more comfortable and safe. The roofing, covering an area of 1,027 square meters, is made of profiled sheet metal and equipped with a drainage system. During construction, CPPC used factory-made reinforced concrete and metal structures — they ensure high reliability of the structure. LED lighting is integrated into the canopy.
In addition, two electrodynamic information displays, two emergency communication terminals, and a loudspeaker notification system were installed on the platform. Benches and trash bins were replaced, and new fencing was installed around the perimeter.
“The passenger flow at Shcherbinka station has significantly increased after the opening of the modern Moscow city railway station — since the beginning of the year, more than 3.4 million passengers have departed from it. To improve comfort and safety, we are carrying out extensive repair work on both platforms. For example, on platform No. 1, we have laid a new surface made of thermally treated granite tiles covering more than 990 square meters, and a contrasting tactile safety line has been applied at the edge of the platform. Construction of infrastructure on platform No. 2 is ongoing. Completion of the work is planned by the end of this year,” said the first deputy general director of CPPC, Vladimir Bulak.
In January 2025, on the site of the outdated suburban train stop, one of the most in-demand in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts, a modern Moscow city station Shcherbinka was opened with a concourse, elevators, and escalators. A covered overhead passage over the railway tracks was equipped for passengers, comfortable waiting areas for trains were created, and navigation elements were updated.
For the convenience of passengers, three new ground city transport routes have also been launched and traffic flow has been reorganized — as a result, the approach to the station has become five minutes faster.
