Beijing, April 15 /Xin Hua/ — China supports the gradual dynamics of ceasefire and peaceful negotiations, which correspond to the fundamental interests of the people of Iran and reflect the common expectations of the countries of the region and the international community. This was stated on Wednesday by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC, Wan Yi.

Van Yi, who is also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made a corresponding statement during a telephone conversation with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

A. Aragchi informed Van I about recent events related to the Iran-US negotiations, outlining the Iranian side’s considerations regarding further steps. He stated that Iran is ready to continue seeking a rational and realistic solution through peaceful negotiations.

The Iranian side highly values the efforts of the Chinese side, which it consistently applies to ease tensions in the region, emphasized the Iranian diplomat, expressing hope that China will play an active role in promoting peace and ending the war.

Van I, for his part, pointed out that China, as always, supports Iran in defending its sovereignty, security, and national dignity. He reminded that CPC Chairman Xi Jinping put forward a four-point proposal to promote peace and stability in the Middle East, bringing to the table China’s approach to resolving the crisis.

The situation has now reached a key turning point from war to peace, when a window opens for a peaceful settlement, stated the head of the CIS Foreign Ministry.

He indicated that the sovereignty, security, and lawful rights and interests of Iran as a state located on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz must be respected and protected, while at the same time freedom and safety of navigation on the international sea route through the strait must be ensured.

According to Van I, the restoration of normal shipping through the Hormuz Strait is a common aspiration of the international community.

The Chinese side, guided by the four-point proposal put forward by Xi Jinping, intends to further facilitate the easing of the situation, contribute to the improvement of relations between the countries of the region, and play a constructive role in ultimately achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, concluded the head of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
