The navigation department team of the capital’s metro has prepared over a thousand signs for passengers of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line. The development of these elements began several years ago. At that time, together with architects, the placement locations were determined—the structures were installed at points where passengers decide their further route. The most were created for the “Zvenigorodskaya” station. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

“Metro navigation specialists have created more than a thousand layouts for the signposts of the Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line. On Sergey Sobyanin’s instructions, 160 digital signposts were installed at five stations. Using them, the production cycle for manufacturing navigation elements was reduced to one day. Also, thanks to the technology, we can promptly update information, as the new line opened in dynamically developing areas of the capital,” said Maxim Liksutov.

Experts have created 17 types of navigation layouts for of the first stations of the new Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, which were opened by Vladimir Putin and Sergey Sobyanin. Among them are lists of all the stations on the line and available transfers to other metro lines.

“The opening of the new radius is an event of special significance for the city. The first section, 8.7 kilometers long, including five stations — from ‘Delovoy Tsentr’ to ‘General Karbyshev Boulevard,’ improved transportation services for over 550 thousand residents of the capital. An important feature of the project was the integration of the ‘Delovoy Tsentr’ and ‘Shelepikha’ stations, which previously operated as part of The Large Circle Line. Moreover, the possibility of further development in this direction was foreseen in advance: the exit ramp near “Shelepikha” was built back in 2018, creating a reserve for the future Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line. The integration itself required complex work: in particular, the running tunnel between “Shelepikha” and “Zvenigorodskaya” was widened from six to 10 meters, and the work on this section was carried out at a depth of up to 45 meters — this is the lowest point of the line,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction.

Vladimir Efimov.

Workers also created guiding and directional signs to exits, transfers, and key facilities, including medical institutions, business centers, and residential complexes. For passengers’ convenience, they prepared area maps and navigation for people with limited mobility — it will indicate where elevators, escalators, ramps, and other equipment are located at the stations. In addition, transportation navigation specialists prepared spaces for placing popular floor signs requested by passengers.

Specialists have developed navigation not only for stations but also for trains. They created over-door navigation for the new “Moscow-2026” train sets with diagrams of all the stations of the new line. With its help, even before the train arrives at the platform, you can find out where the transfers and exits to the necessary city facilities are located.

The changes also affected the most popular navigation element — the metro map. It now features five stations of the graphite line, three transfers between the Filevskaya, Solntsevskaya, and Big Circle lines, as well as Moscow Central Circle.

More than a thousand signs are already available to passengers. In case new popular places appear near open stations, the information will be promptly added using the remote content upload feature.
