New kindergarten on Strelbishchensky Lane

The construction of the preschool section of the Romanov School in Strelbishchensky Lane was completed in the summer of 2026. The work was financed through the Address Investment Program of the city of Moscow.

In a three-story building covering about four thousand square meters, a comfortable and safe educational space was created for 225 children, including a barrier-free environment for kids with disabilities. The kindergarten was built according to an individual project and using digital information models.

The facade finish used porcelain stoneware slabs in white, black, and lemon-yellow colors, giving the building a bright and dynamic appearance. Large windows provide good lighting for the rooms. The main motif of the interior design was elements of nature, which is also reflected in the decorative wall painting.

Children and educators have at their disposal comfortable group rooms and offices for developmental activities with flexible spatial zoning, a gym and a music hall. There is also a full-cycle technological food unit and a medical unit.

Modern children’s and sports playgrounds with rubber crumb surfacing were equipped on the adjacent territory, shade awnings and small architectural forms were installed, lawns were laid out, and plants were planted.

Thanks to innovative equipment, clubs and sections in football, gymnastics, dance, robotics, Lego construction, and other areas of sports and creativity have been organized in the new kindergarten.

The new kindergarten in Strelbishchensky Lane welcomed its first pupils on September 1, 2026.

The Moscow Romanovsky School consists of 22 educational buildings — eight school buildings and 14 preschool buildings (including the new building).

The school educates 3,696 children, including 2,706 schoolchildren and 990 preschoolers. The workforce consists of 369 employees, including 133 teachers and 59 caregivers.

The school implements city pre-professional education projects “Medical Class in a Moscow School,” “IT Class in a Moscow School,” “Media Class in a Moscow School,” “Entrepreneurial Class in a Moscow School” (the latter starting from the 2026/2027 academic year), as well as the projects “Mathematical Vertical” and “Natural Science Vertical.”

To prepare students for a conscious choice of profession, the school actively cooperates with universities, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and others.

Training of teaching staff in Moscow

Teacher training for secondary vocational education programs is conducted at the Moscow Pedagogical College and at the college affiliated with the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU).

About eight thousand students are studying in pedagogical specialties at colleges (75 percent of them on a state-funded basis), including:

— elementary school teaching — 3.4 thousand people;

— Special education in primary education — two thousand people;

— physical education — 860 people;

— specialized preschool education — 690 people;

— adaptive physical culture — 470 people;

— preschool education — 450 people;

— teaching mainly in general education (by profiles) — 60 people.

More than 70 percent of study time is devoted to practice. Students gradually move from observation and participation in individual activities to independently conducting classes, organizing games, walks, and events.

During the pre-graduation internship, students work almost like real teachers: they independently develop lesson and class plans, organize educational activities, maintain documentation, communicate with parents, and analyze the results of their work.

Among the partners of the capital’s colleges are more than 370 educational organizations in Moscow. About 60 percent of graduating students receive job offers and remain working where they completed their internships. At the same time, 95 percent of graduates successfully find employment after finishing their studies.

In 2026, about a thousand students took the demonstration exam in teaching specialties, 96 percent of whom passed it with excellent and good marks.

Interest in the profession among young people is noticeably growing: in 2023–2026, the admission of first-year students nearly doubled — from 1.4 thousand to 2.7 thousand people.

Teachers with higher education are trained at MGPU. Currently, the university has 10,500 students enrolled in bachelor’s, basic higher education, master’s, and specialized higher education programs, 200 of whom are in programs related to preschool pedagogy. This year, a targeted enrollment for students was introduced for the first time, guaranteeing them further employment in the city’s educational institutions.

In 2026, MGPU launched a full-time educational program “Primary School Teacher, Preschool Education, Educational Psychologist” (59 students, 49 of whom are in targeted training) and a part-time program “Primary School Teacher, Preschool Education” (40 students, 24 of whom are in targeted training).

The “My District” program

Presnensky is a historic district in the center of Moscow, home to about 130,000 people. It hosts many iconic sites, ancient monuments, cultural and other landmarks known far beyond the capital. Among them are the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, the Moscow Zoo, Patriarch’s Ponds, Krasnaya Presnya Park, and the House of the Government of the Russian Federation.

“In recent years, the Presnensky district has been mainly known for implementing the largest urban development project — the creation of the business center ‘Moscow-City.’ But we do not forget about the development of social infrastructure. In addition to a kindergarten, three schools have been opened in Presnya, the historic Kaptsov School has been renovated, five children’s and adult polyclinics, libraries, and cultural institutions have been updated,” said the Mayor of Moscow on his channel.

In recent years, the city has provided the business center with the necessary transport infrastructure. To serve the growing passenger flows, a large transport hub has been formed near Moscow-City, which includes stations of the Moscow Metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC) and Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) — six rail framework lines combined into two transport hubs:

— “Moscow-City” (Filyovskaya line metro stations, MCC, MCD-1, and MCD-4);

— “Business Center” (stations of the Filevskaya, Solntsevskaya, and Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya metro lines).

Since June 2023, the City Pier — Central has been operational. It is one of the main stops on the regular river electric transport route from Fili Park to Kievsky Railway Station.

One of the largest road junctions in Moscow has been formed in the area of the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow-City.” Since 2011, important facilities have been built here, such as Bagration Avenue with a multi-level interchange at the intersection with Shelepikhinskaya Embankment and the Third Transport Ring, a highway between the business center and Zvenigorod Highway, and the extension of Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment with a passage under the Moscow Central Circle (MCC).

Another large-scale project is being implemented near Moscow-City. In March 2026, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin launched the construction of the national center “Russia.” The new exhibition complex with a landscaped park is being built on the territory of the Expocenter on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment, and it will become one of the main public spaces of the capital.

In addition, much has been done in the Presnensky district in recent years to improve the quality of life for local residents. The majority of projects were implemented as part of the program “My District”, developed on the initiative of Sergey Sobyanin.

In the district, 27 new surface transport routes have been organized. More than 130 modern bus shelters have been installed.

Five charging stations of the “Energy of Moscow” project have been equipped for electric vehicles. For fans of cycling trips, 165 city bike rental parking lots have been equipped.

Under the outpatient modernization program, the main building (27 Zamorenova Street), branch No. 1 (25 Shmitovsky Drive, building 1) and branch No. 3 (3 Rastorguevsky Lane) of Polyclinic No. 220, branch No. 1 of Polyclinic No. 5 (3 Bolshaya Bronnaya Street), and branch No. 1 of Children’s Polyclinic No. 32 (8 Antonova-Ovseenko Street, building 1) were comprehensively renovated.

Several educational institutions have been built. These are three schools — on Podvoyskogo Street (building 2, structure 2), in Bolshoy Tishinsky Lane (building 39), Prichalny Drive (building 7), and a kindergarten in Strelbishchensky Lane (building 14).

As part of the “My School” program, the building of School No. 1520 named after the Kaptsovs was renovated at the address: Leontyevsky Lane, 19/2, building 1.

Two future schools will also be built in the district — on Klimashkina Street and in Bolshoy Kondratyevsky Lane.

For the numerous fans of the Moscow Zoo, the reopening of the “Pinnipeds” pavilion after a comprehensive renovation became a major event. Visitors can observe walruses and seals from virtually arm’s length. The viewing area is situated at the same level as the water.

A new themed area — a children’s zoo — has been arranged there as well. At the same time, the route to it from the metro has become shorter and more convenient thanks to the new entrance pavilion near the “Barrikadnaya” station.

A major overhaul of the building of the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya and current repairs of the main stage of the Mossovet Theater have been completed. Modernization is ongoing in the premises of the Moscow Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin.

The major renovation of the A.K. Lyadov Children’s Music School (8 1905 Goda Street) and selective ongoing repairs at the P.G. Chesnokov Children’s Music School (2/4 Trekhgorny Val Street, Building 1) have been completed. Several libraries have also been renovated, including Library No. 9 named after N.V. Gogol (39 Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street), Library No. 10 (5 Streltbishchensky Lane, Building 3), Library No. 11 named after D.V. Davydov (46 Shmitovsky Drive, Building 2), and Library No. 12 named after I.A. Bunin (3 1905 Goda Street).

On Novinsky Boulevard, thanks to comprehensive restoration, the Narkomfin building—a unique monument of constructivism from the 1920s-1930s—was revived. Last year on Novinsky Boulevard, a historic house with an annex as part of the city estate (houses 25–27, buildings 8 and 10) was also restored, where the family support center of the Naked Heart Foundation now operates.

A flagship store has opened on Presnensky Val street (house 14, building 5) Moscow Longevity Center, which also operates on Sundays, providing leisure opportunities for Moscow residents of the older generation who visit other district centers.

A great deal of work has been done to create a comfortable urban environment.

Completed the landscaping of the “Aquarium” garden near the Mossovet Theatre, as well as the December Uprising Park, Georgievsky Square, the square along Podvoysky Street, the exhibition space next to the Russian Telegraph Agency (ITAR-TASS). Put in order dozens of other well-known sites. Among them are Krasnaya Presnya Street, 1905 Goda, Krasina, Gasheka, Julius Fucik, Klimashkin, Kostikov, Zamorenov, 2nd Brestskaya, Vasilievskaya, Zoologicheskaya, Povarskaya and Mantulinskaya, Bolshoy and Maly Patriarshy, Skaterny, Strelbishchensky and Sytinsky lanes.

In 2022, Konyushkovskaya Street was renovated, and at its intersection with Bolshoy Devyatinsky Lane, a landscaped plaza of the Donetsk People’s Republic was established.

This year, improvements are being made to “Krasnaya Presnya” park, and the completion of the reconstruction of the Shelepikhinskaya Embankment is also expected.

Moreover, at the weekend market located at 1905 Goda Street, property 4, residents can expect a wide selection of products—from fresh vegetables and fruits to meat products from various regions of the country.

Renovation program in the Presnensky district

In the Presnensky district, 53 buildings are included in the renovation program, housing about 8.3 thousand Muscovites.

The resettlement of 26 houses has been completed, and more than 3,800 residents have received new apartments.

Two residential complexes were constructed and handed over for occupancy in the district at the addresses: 2 Mukomolny Proezd and 19 Presnensky Val Street.

Another building is being constructed on Podvoisky Street (land plot No. 12/15).
