Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova congratulated the National Medical Research Center of Hematology on its 100th anniversary and presented state awards to the employees. The ceremonial event took place in the Hall of the Church of the Savior.

“The centennial anniversary of NMIC hematology is a unique event for our entire great country. About 5 thousand patients receive treatment at the center annually, more than 1.5 thousand surgical interventions are performed. The specialists of the center are the authors of almost all clinical guidelines on hematology in Russia. Today, more than 1,500 employees work at the center, doing everything possible to create new medical science, new treatment technologies, and save people. An endless number of lives have been saved and born.A –“This is your achievement,” said Tatyana Golikova.

She noted that the center has traveled a long way from the world’s first blood transfusion institute, established in 1926, to a national research center. At various times, great academicians and outstanding scientists worked there.Alexander Alexandrovich Bogdanov, Alexander Alexandrovich Bogomolets, Andrey Arkadyevich Bagdasarov, Andrey Ivanovich Vorobyov, Valeriy Grigoryevich Savchenko and many others.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the head of the center, Elena Parovichnikova, and the team for their loyalty to the profession, preservation of the best traditions of the national medical school, and priceless work.

The hosts of the festive event were Yana Churikova and Valdis Pelsh. They reminded about the glorious history of the center, its outstanding doctors and scientists, and presented the center’s modern achievements. A special atmosphere in the hall was created by the screening of a shortened 10-minute version of the documentary film about the center’s work “Own Foreign Blood,” made on order of Channel One.

The NMITs of hematology also congratulated Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, head of the FMBA Veronika Skvortsova, and others.
