On September 18, representatives of the architectural branding company “Genpro” donated a collector’s edition of “The Art of Architectural Models,” created in collaboration with the TATLIN publishing house, to the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The book was delivered to the university’s scientific and technical library by Genpro’s creative director Oleg Bogdan, Deputy Head for Architectural Concept Alexey Tverdov and development director Ksenia Yuryeva. The guests were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Sergey Mikhailov and the head of the scientific and technical library Elena Romanova.
The publication summarizes the company’s best practices in architectural design and territory branding. The book contains models of landmark architectural projects, including works by Russian architectural bureaus. According to the creators’ concept, the publication allows one to see how a model has evolved from a designer’s working tool to an independent form of presenting the architectural concept.
“We wanted to give the university from our company something that is very valuable to us. It is an exclusive book developed by our founder Emil Petrichenko. Last year in Moscow, he organized an exhibition featuring designs from leading architectural bureaus. The exhibition was very successful. This book is based on that exposition. It contains many works by our colleagues. The book was published by us with great love,” said Ksenia Yuryeva.
For SPbGASU, the publication is of interest as additional visual material for students of architectural disciplines. Modeling is one of the mandatory subjects in the training of future architects: working with a physical model helps students to envision the spatial solution, scale, and features of the designed object.
Sergey Mikhailov noted the practical value of the publication for the educational process: “It will be an excellent manual. Not many textbooks on modeling are published for architects, so such a visual manual will be very useful and, I am sure, in demand.”
The book will be added to the collection of the scientific and technical library of SPbGASU, where it will be available to the university’s staff and students.
A tour of the library was arranged for the guests. They became acquainted with unique editions from the NTB SPbGASU collection, learned about the history of the development of the domestic school of civil engineers, whose traditions continue at our university.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of SPbGASU and “Genpro” discussed possibilities for further cooperation.
