More than 126,500 electric meters have been replaced free of charge in residential buildings since the beginning of 2026. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow Pyotr Biryukov.
“We continue activities on the centralized replacement of electricity meters in apartment buildings. This year, we will replace about 200,000 meters in total, of which over 126,500 have already been installed. The work is carried out free of charge, since from July 1, 2020, the responsibility for organizing electricity metering in the residential sector has transferred to Mosenergosbyt,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Specialists are dismantling old devices that have failed or have exceeded the inter-verification period. The service life of new multi-tariff meters is 30 years.
They are installed with equipment that will allow devices to be connected to an intelligent electricity metering system in the future. Residents will not need to transmit energy consumption data — the system will do this automatically on its own.
The date for the replacement of electric meters is announced in advance: the relevant information is posted on notice boards in the entrances and near residential buildings.
