Since the beginning of the year, 1,963 animals from city shelters have found new homes, including 1,436 dogs and 527 cats. Today, 13,974 dogs and 1,766 cats are housed in 13 shelters in Moscow, waiting to meet their future owners. They can be met not only at the shelters but also at adoption fairs or through the service “Mospitomets” on the mos.ru portal. This was reported by the metropolitan municipal services complex.
Meeting the pet at the adoption event
One way to choose a four-legged friend is to visit an adoption exhibition. At such events, you can personally meet the animals, learn from staff and volunteers about their character, habits, and traits, as well as receive recommendations for future interaction with the pet.
24 dogs and cats found a new home thanks to the adoption event “Fluffy Tail” in Izmailovsky Park, which was organized for the first time this year Department of Housing and Communal Services of the City of Moscow. Approximately 50 pets were brought to the event from the shelters ‘Fluffy Friend’ in the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Districts, ‘Biryulyovo’ in the south of the capital, ‘Solntsevo’ in the west, and ‘Nekrasovka’ in the southeast of the capital, as well as from the ‘Zoorassvet’ shelter of the State Budgetary Institution ‘Dorinvest’.
One of the major events was the festival “Mospitomec × Four-Legged Friend.” Over four days, participants were shown about 250 dogs and cats from city shelters. Sixty-six pets found their owners — a new festival record. Cats Harry and Amor from the “Zelenograd” shelter of the State Budgetary Institution “Dorinvest,” cats Snezhana and Daisy and dog Zenon from the “Fluffy Friend” shelter, dog Dusya, dog Axel, and cats Katrin and Taifi from the “Nekrasovka” shelter, cats Violet and Lavender from the “Biryulyovo” shelter, and others went to new families. Last year, 18 animals found homes at a similar event.
The dog Knopa from the shelter “Zoorassvet” of the State Budgetary Institution “Dorinvest” found a family at the exhibition. Her new family met her at the exhibition on August 8 at the museum-estate “Lyublino” in the palace of N.A. Durasov.
“We got Button at the exhibition on August 8 at the Durasov Palace. It was love at first sight. Our daughter had been asking for a dog for a long time, but it just wasn’t working out. By nature, she is very kind, smart, and playful. For the first two or three nights, she barked at every rustle. Then she stopped; apparently, she realized she had nothing to fear. We eat with some fussiness. And, of course, we are afraid of the bath — that’s our pain. The situation gets especially complicated during the rainy season, but we are working on it,” said Alena, Button’s new owner.
Find a pet using the “Mospitomets” service
Another way to meet animals looking for owners is to find them using the “Mospitomets” service on on the portal mos.ru. The catalog features profiles of dogs and cats from city and private shelters. In them, you can view photos of the pet, learn about its age, character, and get contact information for the shelter or volunteers.
As noted by the city’s Department of Information Technology, the service allows you to select a pet in advance and arrange a meeting with it. This is especially convenient for those who want to carefully study the profiles and choose an animal whose character and needs suit the future family.
When choosing a pet, experts recommend considering not only its appearance, but also its temperament, activity level, attitude towards people and other animals, care requirements, and more. This approach helps to prepare for the arrival of a new family member and makes adaptation more comfortable for everyone.
Get acquainted with animals from city shelters
Today, 13 city shelters operate in Moscow, housing more than 15,000 dogs and cats. All animals are vaccinated and microchipped, under the supervision of specialists, and ready to move to a new home.
After the future owner selects a pet and fills out an electronic form, the shelter staff will contact them to arrange a convenient time for the meeting. If, after the meeting, the person decides to take the animal home, they will be asked to sign a responsible pet ownership agreement outlining the owner’s rights and responsibilities. The future owner has three days to make a final decision and prepare for the animal’s arrival at the new home.
The mos.ru portal is the core of the capital’s digital ecosystem. Today, it offers more than 460 services and features that help to solve almost any issue online. In a convenient digital format, you can pay bills, check your child’s grades and school schedule, submit meter readings, book veterinary appointments for pets, purchase tickets for plays and concerts, and much more. To have reliable access to important digital services, experts recommend using “Yandex Browser” or installing it on your device. certificates Russian Ministry of Digital Development.
