In the village of Tiansin, Yao’an-Yao National Township of Lianzhou urban district, Qingyuan city, Guangdong province, there is a grave of unnamed Red Army soldiers. In 1935, during the Long March, the remnants of the 34th division of the 5th corps of the Red Army fought a fierce battle here against the enemy, killing more than ten enemies. After the battle, the villagers of Tiansin found the bodies of six fallen Red Army soldiers on the battlefield, buried them together, and erected an unnamed tombstone.
The residents of the village of Tiansin guard this unnamed grave from generation to generation, passing down orally stories about the Red Army soldiers. Every year, on their own initiative, they organize the cleaning of the grave and ceremonies to honor the memory of the fallen heroes. Relying on the project to create the National Cultural Park of the Long March (Lianzhou section, Guangdong), the local authorities continuously transform “red” resources into a force that contributes to spiritual and moral education, the cohesion of people, and development.
