Beirut, April 15 /Sina/ — The Hezbollah movement stated that on Tuesday it launched rocket attacks on the northern Galilee in response to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement and ongoing attacks on villages in the southern part of Lebanon.

It is reported that the strikes were carried out at 18:15 local time / 15:30 GMT / on 13 Israeli settlements. The attacks took place against the backdrop of ongoing negotiations in Washington between the governments of Lebanon and Israel.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Tuesday that he hopes the talks in Washington will put an end to the suffering of the Lebanese people, especially in the south of the country, as the number of deaths resulting from Israeli attacks has risen to 2,124 people, and 6,921 have been injured since March 2, when the Hezbollah movement began rocket shelling of Israel with Iran’s support.

During the meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Italian Defense, Luciano Portolano, who arrived on a visit, President G. Aoun also noted that stability will not return to southern Lebanon as long as the Israeli army continues its presence on Lebanese territory.

He added that the only viable solution is the full deployment of the Lebanese army to internationally recognized borders, which will make it the sole structure responsible for ensuring security in the southern region of the country.

The government of Lebanon is striving to extend state authority throughout its entire territory, including taking steps to resolve the problem of weapons in the hands of non-state actors, such as the movement “Hezbollah”. However, progress in this direction remains slow and difficult against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli strikes and a complex internal political situation. –0–
