International Scientific Student Conference (ISSC-2026)The work at Novosibirsk State University begins today, April 15. This year, it is being held for the 64th time and continues a tradition that was started back in 1962 by the leadership of NSU. MNSK brings together participants from regions of Russia and foreign countries and is one of the most significant events for students, graduate students, young scientists, and schoolchildren. The conference is dedicated to the current directions of development of fundamental and applied sciences. The program includes an interactive platform, popular science lectures by famous scientists, and informal communication.During the week, participants are expecting section meetings, round tables, open seminars, master classes, excursions around the NSU and Akademgorodok, as well as other events.

This year, the MNSE program underwent significant changes. The medical direction was expanded: two sections appeared — “Experimental Medicine” and “Clinical Medicine” with subsections “Therapy, Pediatrics and General Medical Practice”, “Surgery” and “Obstetrics and Gynecology.” In the “Scientific Engineering” section, the oil and gas direction received a new focus — “Digital Solutions in Oil and Gas Engineering.” Among the school sections, legal directions appeared for the first time: the subsection “Economics and Law” (within the section “Social and Economic Sciences”) and the subsection “Jurisprudence” (within the section “Humanities”).

3314 applications were submitted to participate in MNSK-2026, and 3069 participants passed the scientific selection. Faculties and institutes of NGU, subdivisions of SUNTS and VKI organized work of 48 conference sections and 142 subsections. The “Agriculture” section was organized jointly with the University of Biotechnology, the subsection “Theory and practice of the digital economy (business informatics and economic cybernetics)” was organized jointly with the Novosibirsk State University of Economics and Management. Most sections involve students, graduate students, and young scientists. 13% of participants take part in the work of school sections., — said the head of the department for support and analysis of scientific research at NGUNatalya Aksenova.

The largest number of participants this year were gathered in the sections “Information Technologies” (368 participants), “Chemistry” (225), “Mathematics” (224), “Biology” (196), “State and Law” (170), “Geology” (124), and “Oriental Studies” (100). In the full-time format in MINSK, 77% of students, graduate students, and young scientists participate, 17% participate remotely, and 6% participate part-time.

The geography of the participants of MNC-2026 includes 37 regions of the Russian Federation and 5 foreign countries. As before, the majority of representatives come from the Novosibirsk region (2372 people), among other regions leading are the Republic of Sakha (102), Tomsk region (93), Republic of Tuva (88), Moscow and Moscow region (86), Saint Petersburg and Leningrad region (35), and Irkutsk region (35).Students, graduate students, and young scientists from Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar, Zabaykalsky, Altai, Primorsky, Perm, and Stavropol Krais, Kemerovo, Tyumen, Omsk, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kaliningrad, Voronezh, Belgorod, Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, and Amur regions, the Republics of Buryatia, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Khakassia, Karelia, and Altai, as well as from the Udmurt Republic, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, and Sevastopol, have also arrived at the MSC.There are also representatives from foreign countries — 6 participants arrived from Uzbekistan, 2 from Kazakhstan, and one each from Belarus, Nigeria, and Peru.

At the solemn opening ceremony of MNSK-2026, the rector of NGU, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, gave a welcoming speech to the participants of the eventDmitry Pyshny.

As a former director of the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine of the SB RAS, I know very well the format of this conference, I’ve seen how young people prepare for it, breaking through among the best of the best to be accepted at this unprecedented scientific event. This conference represents a special interest for young people not just because it covers a very wide range of scientific specialties. We constantly improve its format, expanding the subject areas. This year, the medical direction was significantly expanded. Quite interesting reports will be presented, including in the field of oil and gas specialties.MNSK is also important because it provides novice researchers the opportunity to present their first scientific community developments, discuss them, and receive feedback and evaluation from scientists. I’ve seen how young people become passionate about science and get involved in scientific research, broadening their horizons. Therefore, discuss, debate, argue, make new contacts, expand your circle of acquaintances., — saidDmitry Pyshny.

Addressing the participants of MNSK, the dean of the Mechanical-Mathematical Faculty of NSU, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Igor Marchuk advised to definitely take part in heated discussions and not be shy to ask questions to the lecturers. He also wished success to all mathematicians, and recommended representatives of the humanities to show interest in this science, because mathematics allows structuring thinking and approaching scientific work more systematically.

The director of the Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yulia Samoylova, in her welcoming speech, noted that the feature of NGU is that unique interdisciplinary projects are created and implemented at this university. Therefore, she wished the participants of MNSK to meet like-minded people, partners, and friends at this event, with whom they would unite common scientific goals and joint efforts to create projects beneficial to society and valuable from a scientific point of view.

The Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies at NGU, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Mikhail Lavrentyev noted that for those who have chosen the path of science, participation in Minsk is one of the main indicators of work.

We are meeting in a unique place — in the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. Akademgorodok is strong in its traditions, and one of them is MNSK, held at NSU. If you are invited to a conference, it means you present something of yourself and have already managed to achieve certain results. Forums, conferences, reports — these are part of the creative work in whatever field of science you have found yourself. In our section, information technology is one of the subsections, organized on the initiative of our partner — the company that creates databases.Participants in this section will have a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the employees of this company and to join the advanced level of modern information technologies. Remember that at this conference there are only winners, and no losers., — saidMikhail Lavrentyev. Â

Dean of the Economics Faculty of NGU, Candidate of Sociological Sciences Tatyana Bogomolova recalled her experience of participating in MNSC.

While studying in the 2nd year of the Economics faculty, I participated in MNSK and to this day I cannot stop — I take part in many conferences because it is a separate happiness for people engaged in research. It is very important that you have something to say to the world and that the world hears you. I want to wish that everything new you discover is directed toward benefiting people,— addressed the participants of the MinskTatyana Bogomolova.

At the grand opening of MNSK-2026, two lectures were also held. Doctor of Chemical Sciences, professor, head of the Biophotonics Laboratory at the Center for Photonics and Photon Technologies of Skoltech, co-founder of the companies Hyperspectrus and Tetrakvant, Dmitry Gorin gave a popular science lecture “Biophotonics: how light cares for our health and the ecology of the planet”, and Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, associate professor of the Department of Historical Geology and Paleontology of the GGFF, senior researcher at INGG SO RAS, Igor Kosenko presented the report “Modern Paleontology: significance, methods, discoveries, and examples from personal experience”.

During MINSK, in addition to the section meetings, there will be lectures by invited leading scientists, excursions to NGU (NGU Scientific Educational Center “Evolution of the Earth”, NGU History Museum, exhibition about the history of MINSK) and other events.
