“KAMAZ” together with its official partner LLC “UralSpecTrans” presented a new model of an oil tanker truck ACN-17T “Thermos” on the KAMAZ-65959 chassis of the K5 generation. The special equipment is manufactured by the “UralSpecTrans” plant under the SEVEREST brand and is designed for the transportation and short-term storage of oil and oil-containing liquids with a density not exceeding 0.92 g/cm³.

The special equipment is based on the modern all-wheel-drive KAMAZ-65959 chassis of the K5 generation, distinguished by a 6×6 wheel formula and single tires with an automated tire pressure control system. The power plant is a six-cylinder inline KAMAZ R6 engine: its power reaches 483 hp, and the torque is 2403 Nm, enabling the equipment to operate steadily even at maximum load. The transmission uses a 16-speed manual gearbox. This configuration provides high cross-country capability and allows the special equipment to be used in challenging road conditions, including at oil and gas industry facilities. Comfort and ease of control are ensured by the K5 cab: it is mounted on a 4-point spring suspension, equipped with a modern onboard information system, and the well-thought-out ergonomics of the workplace make operating the equipment more convenient for the driver.

One of the key features of the new model is the stainless steel tank. This design is intended for long-term operation in transporting oil, including oil containing impurities. The high corrosion resistance of the material allows for an increased service life of the tank and longer periods of maintenance-free operation. To maintain the temperature of the transported product, the tank body is equipped with thermal insulation 100 mm thick. This solution reduces heat loss and allows for increased allowable duration and distance of transportation of petroleum products sensitive to temperature changes. Special attention during design was given to the fastening of the tank to the chassis. It is mounted on a pivoting support and two supports with rigid bolted connections. This structural solution reduces the transmission of loads and deformations from the frame to the tank body when moving over rough roads and difficult terrain, improving the reliability and durability of the equipment. The new tanker ACN-17T “Thermos” complies with current ADR requirements for the transport of dangerous goods.

The joint project between KAMAZ and UralSpecTrans expands the range of specialized equipment on the K5 generation chassis and offers oil and gas companies a modern solution for operation in harsh climatic and road conditions.
